Forever Families Guild
The mission of the Forever Families Guild is to raise awareness and funds as well as lend volunteer support for Adoption Links Worldwide. Please consider joining.

There are over 5,000 children in Nebraska’s foster care system. These children entered foster care through no fault of their own and have been abused and neglected.

During Foster Child Awareness Month, we would like to help you understand the life of a foster child. We will be looking at one girl’s journey throughout the month of May and what life is like for her.

Jill is 14 years old and has been in care for six years. She was separated from her brother and sister three years ago when an old foster mother decided to adopt her siblings, but didn’t feel she could handle all three. She has been in 18 placements in the last 6 years.

Caseworker:  Tralan,16, is a good kid who really wants a family.
Caregiver: Tralan has worked very hard to deal with his issues and has made so much progress.
Recruiter: Tralan is a very lovable young man and needs a committed family.
Child:  I want a family that treats me good.

Tralan is a very soft spoken, considerate, and respectful 15 year-old young man. He is passionate about designing, drawing, and someday working on cars. Tralan also enjoys sports, particularly baseball and football and dreams of being a professional baseball player, maybe even for the Yankees, as they are his favorite team. Tralan does well in school, especially in smaller groups and likes Math because it is easy for him. He can sometimes be quiet and reserved and has a strong sense of fairness. He really wants to belong in a family and would do well as the youngest child in a warm and nurturing environment.
