What If I Choose to Parent?

We understand that an unplanned pregnancy is difficult. We want to help you create a safe and happy home for your child. We will help support you while you make a parenting plan. We will be there for you and will never pressure you.

Most birth parents have many questions about coming in to an agency to receive support while making a parenting plan. Here are the answers to some of those questions.

1. Is there any cost to me?
No. We offer you support without any cost to you.
2. Will you help me talk to the father of the baby and parents about my parenting plan?
Yes. We know that it is difficult to tell the father of the baby and your parents that you are pregnant. We are here to help you through that process. Finding people that support you while you parent is important.
3. Can you help me figure out what I physically need for a baby?
Yes. We understand that there are many physical things that you will need to parent your child such as a crib and a car seat. We can help you make a list of all the items you will need when you come home from the hospital. We can also help connect you to resources in the community that can help you get those items.
4. I don’t have medical insurance or a doctor. Can you help?
Yes. We can help you apply for Medicaid. If you are approved, Medicaid will pay for the medical expenses related to the pregnancy and delivery of the baby. Additionally, we can help you find a doctor that you feel comfortable with.
5. I don’t know if I have enough money to parent a baby. Can you help me with finances?
Yes. Budgeting and managing your money is an important part of parenting a child. We can help you determine how much money you will need. We can also help you create a budget so you have money for your monthly expenses. Some parents want to know more information on how to get their GED or how to get financial aid so they can attend college classes.
6.
I don’t know much about child development. Can you help?
Yes. We will provide you with resources regarding what to expect during your pregnancy and from your child as he or she develops. We will be there to answer any questions you have and support you along the way.
