Some families choose to complete an adoption without the assistance of a licensed agency or with an agency or facilitator in another state or country. Some families have had great support from their placing agencies and others struggle with paperwork, process and post placement issues. We offer you a bit of advice from our years of experience:
Only work with reputable licensed adoption agencies.
Talk with other families who adopted without a local agency to learn what's expected of you.
Keep in mind that international adoption is a humanitarian business (like United Way or Saint Jude's), and there are legitimate costs to running an ethical international adoption program.
Utilize this network of families for emotional support, as most international adoptions don't go exactly as planned.

Below is a detailed list of fees and services provided by Adoption Links Worldwide. These are required services you will be expected to pay for regardless of your placement agency or where your child comes from. Every family adopting internationally must have:
A Home Study completed and approved by a licensed child placement agency.
Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) application: I-600-A.
Post Placement Supervision in compliance with Nebraska, the placement agency and the placing country.
In these Private International Adoption cases, the adoptive parents must have a Home Study assessment completed and an agency conduct post placement supervision. Most accredited agencies require adoptive families to have training in addition to the Home Study assessment. Even if not required, we strongly advise families to attend our International Training (see page 6.) Post Placement Supervision is required after the child comes home. Payment for the required visits must be received before the home study is released. Get more information on these services.

| The Hague and Intercountry Adoption Act |
| The goal of The Hague is to protect children and families involved in intercountry or international adoption. It provides standardized regulations for every country that ratifies it and allows for greater transparency in the adoption process. Countries that ratify The Hague will follow its regulations when working with other countries that also ratified The Hague. Its implications for international adoptions are very significant.
Adoption Links Worldwide is the only Nebraska-based agency seeking the accreditation of The Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption.
